Toyota Material Handling Australia (TMHA) is celebrating back to back victories after receiving the highest honour at the recent Toyota Material Handling International (TMHI) distributor awards for the second year running.
The TMHI President's Award for overall business excellence recognises TMHA as the top distributor in sales and customer support categories, taking into account equipment sales, service and parts performance and overall business productivity.
TMHA took the number one position ahead of the 140 other countries that make up the TMHI region.
TMHA executive vice president and COO Steve Takacs accepted the award which was presented in April by Toyota Industries Corporation president Mr Akita Onishi at the grand ballroom of the Marriot Hotel in Nagoya, Japan.
Mr Takacs said it was almost unheard of to win the prestigious President's Award two years in a row.
"Winning this award back to back recognises the continued strength of the TMHA business and is a fitting reward for the hard work put in by everyone in our business operation," Mr Takacs said.
"Strong sales figures in 2016 helped us record our eighth consecutive year as the number one forklift brand in Australia, and the business overall is really growing on the back of a 40 per cent market share and a 750-strong team, including 450 service technicians, working out of our national TMHA network of 17 branches.
"The award also recognises the introduction of innovative new solutions to our established product offering, like our range of elevated work platforms and driverless forklifts launched last year, and our expansion into providing racking and storage solutions.
"It is another step on the path to our goal of being a trusted total solutions supplier for all our customers' warehousing and material handling needs," Mr Takacs said.
